Espíritu Santo Island Adventure

Let RED arrange your outing on this one-day trip designed for groups traveling to La Paz for meetings and conferences.

This one-day trip to Espiritu Santo Island provides a perfect excursion for conferences, meetings, or any group sized from 15 to 80 in La Paz. Pristine waters surround this island, part of a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, and its protected coves and white sand beaches provide the perfect getaway from conference rooms and artificial light, and an ideal setting for positive group interaction. Participants can stay aboard, or hop in the water to snorkel with friendly sea lions, and explore historical ruins that dot the shores of neighboring islands, with naturalist guides leading each excursion. Team building activities are also available under request. Departing in the morning, guests will be back in La Paz in time for dinner.

RED's outing to Espiritu Santo supports conservation of the Islas del Golfo Biosphere Reserve part of what Jacques Cousteau labeled "the world's aquarium". Visitors will see up close why this natural wonderland is worth seeing and protecting. The Espiritu Santo trips also provide community members with an alternative source of employment, reducing pressures on fisheries resources and diversifying their household income.

Sample Trip Itinerary:

7:00 AM This is a day trip. We typically pick up guests at their hotel at 7:00 a.m., and transport them to the marina. After boarding the boat, local chefs await with a delicious breakfast as we head out from the Bay of La Paz. After roughly 2.5 hours, we arrive at the sea lion colony for our first stop. You'll have hour and a half to swim, snorkel and interact with the playful sea lions. We then climb back on board to navigate around the island in search of a pristine beach where our hosts await with a scrumptious meal of fresh seafood. On the beach, guides will give a talk about the natural history of the island, plants and mangroves, and you’ll be able to ask all the questions you like. Relax, swim or take a nature hike. Back on board, happy hour awaits and we'll share our most memorable moments before starting the trip back to La Paz, arriving around 5 pm.

Upon request, RED can organize activities to promote group integration and team-building. Special needs and dietary options available upon request.

Project Impact

RED is much more than a tour operator. Traveling with RED supports community development and local conservation efforts.

The Espiritu Santo trips also provide community members with an alternative source of employment, reducing pressures on fisheries resources and diversifying their income streams.

Espiritu Santo Island is a Biosphere reserve, and to enter to this magical place a fee must be payed to support local conservation efforts, as well as vigilance, operations and infrastructure development.

3% of the trip fees are donated to RED’s community and conservation fund which is used to promote local conservation efforts among members of the community, with educational trips for kids and teachers from the local schools
