Engine 1 · For Designers

The ground partner your brief demands.

RED is the territorial operator for travel designers and agencies who architect custom itineraries in Baja California Sur. We hold federal permits, established cooperativa partnerships, and a field team built across sixteen years of continuous operation.

SCROLL · THE OFFERING

We are not a packaged operator. We are the territory co-designer your brief requires.

Federal permits held by few.

Marine protected-area concessions. Overnight mooring permits. Community cooperative agreements. Most operators do not hold them. Ours anchor exclusive access to Cabo Pulmo, San Ignacio Lagoon, and Espíritu Santo that cannot be sourced through ad hoc local guides or third-party naturalists.

A field team with nine-year average tenure.

Your captain is one of ours. Your naturalist has completed dozens of expeditions in our framework. Your chef prepares menus tested across seasons and traveler types. This is not a roster refreshed seasonally. It is a stable logistics foundation sustained through sixteen years of continuous operation.

Bilingual proposal design. Never templated.

You write the brief: traveler profile, window, objectives, budget frame. We respond with territory-specific logistics and a proposal within 48 hours — rarely a menu, always a fit-assessment. If the match is strong, we proceed to co-design. If not, we tell you so.

Cooperativa stewardship, not transactional supply.

We work with the Castro family at Cabo Pulmo, the Mayoral cooperative at San Ignacio, and the San Gabriel families at Espíritu Santo. These are permit-rooted partnerships sustained by consistent compensation and respect for community benefit. They enable access that tourism alone cannot guarantee.

Small groups. The constraint is the offer.

Every itinerary: 8 travelers maximum. One captain per vessel. One naturalist per eight. One chef per kitchen. This ceiling is not a limitation imposed; it is the structure that protects depth, attention, and the field team's capacity to interpret and respond.

How It Works

Three steps from brief to expedition.

1

Intake Brief

You send a letter: traveler profile, window, research interests or objectives, budget frame. We read it in La Paz. Within 48 hours, we respond with fit-assessment, clarifying questions, a proposal, or a transparent decline. No template. Conversation, not booking engine.

2

Proposal and Co-Design

If the fit is strong, we draft the itinerary day-by-day, including team assignments, permits, route alternatives, and seasonal constraints. You review and refine. Usually two or three exchanges. Then: signed proposal, deposit received, logistics locked.

3

Operations and Debrief

Our field team meets your traveler at the anchor point. We execute as designed. During the journey, you receive daily updates. After departure, we debrief with you and provide documentation. No surprises. Full transparency on what worked, what shifted, what we learned.

Operating Foundation

Built on territorial permit stewardship, field team stability, and one structural constant.

Years continuous
16

Continuous operation in Baja California Sur since 2009, under consistent ownership and vision.

Federal permits held
14

Marine protected-area concessions, overnight mooring, terrestrial access. Held by fewer than four operators on the peninsula.

Field team tenure
9 yrs avg

Captains, naturalists, and chefs remain with RED across seasons. Expertise accumulates. Protocol refines. Relationships deepen.

Group ceiling
8 max

Every itinerary, every permit. This is not a marketing constraint. It is a structural commitment to depth and attention.

Who Partners With RED

The designer profiles we serve best.

Independent Trip Designers
Principals running their own practice who need a territorial operator they can brief once and trust entirely across multiple expeditions. These relationships often begin with one journey and extend across years and repeat clientele.
Bespoke Agencies
Established luxury or adventure firms with destination specialists who use RED as their Baja California Sur operating desk. We serve accounts that prioritize real access and depth over transactional volume, and we build recurrence through account mining and new-route expansion.
Family Offices and Private Advisors
Advisors who place multi-generational or complex family travel and require permit-backed exclusive access, consistent field teams across seasons, and full discretion. For these briefs, logistics is secondary to fit, trust, and execution precision.
Brands, Media, and Institutional Partners
Organizations conducting editorial shoots, private expeditions, leadership development, or territorial immersions who need credible on-the-water operations and a studio capable of executing on their timeline and vision.
Four Ecosystems

The peninsula is organized into four chapters. Each one permits a different proposal.

Cabo Pulmo

The reef that came back. Seventy-one square kilometers of no-take marine protection with the largest documented recovery — 463% biomass increase in fifteen years.

Sierra de la Laguna

A cloud forest hidden in the desert. Twelve kilometers of vertical transition from thorn scrub to endemic pine, held in UNESCO biosphere designation.

Learn more →

San Ignacio Lagoon

The friendly whales. Twenty-seven thousand Eastern Pacific gray whales return each winter to birth and nurse calves in this protected lagoon.

Espíritu Santo

Pink rhyolite archipelago. Thirty-two kilometers north of La Paz — the most tightly managed marine protected area in the peninsula.

Ready to brief the peninsula?

RED does not publish rate cards. We do not operate a booking engine. The fit between your brief and this territory is established through conversation — email, usually. You describe the traveler, the window, and what you are trying to accomplish. We respond with what is permitted, who is available, and a concrete proposal.

Every brief is read by someone in La Paz who has operated on the water. We respond within 48 hours or let you know why we cannot deliver the fit you are seeking. If your timeline is tight, tell us directly and we will move faster.
